The Opportunity: Engineering Manager

United Plant Services is an engineering and asset management business, renowned for providing market leading engineering support and fleet management for Heavy Mobile Equipment (HME) within the quarry and waste industry. We are part of The Briggs Equipment Group who are a leading provider of asset management and maintenance solutions across the UK and Ireland. The Impact you will have:

• Own and drive a safe and secure working environment working closely with the SHEQ Lead to deliver all safety related KPI’s.
• Drive engineer productivity through maximising hours sold and challenge non-productive closely with Regional Service Controller.
• Ensure engineering vacancies are at less than 10% of budgeted headcount & drive recruitment.
• Be a felt presence in your team targeting 80% of your time on F2F interactions with engineers & 20% with customers retaining & gaining new business.
• Ensure all field engineers have regular F2F 121’s with clear daily working objectives set out to help deliver new business KPI’s and ensure the wellbeing of engineers.
• Embed the business values in your engineering team resulting in United Plant being a supplier and employer of choice in its chosen marketplace.
• Maintain compliance in all areas, including engineering work, H&S, Competence, tooling, and audits
• Manage adherence to current contract KPI’s through delivering a ‘right first time’ performance through high quality repairs.
• Adopt a continuous improvement methodology and support with projects to improve business performance.
• Identify skill gaps analysis within your engineering team and develop as necessary, in order to retain & recruit the best fit personnel.
• Assist with retention of Regional and National customer base through regular customer communication, keeping internal stakeholders aware of any relevant customer developments.
• Support with regional parts and supplier solution that allows optimum levels of right first-time to be achieved.
• Actively support in pursuing and harvesting new customer opportunities.

• Evidence of, and commitment to continual professional and personal development - educated in a business-related area
• Significant experience of a safety ethos across all areas of operation
• Demonstrable experience of leading an engineering services-based business plus the implementation of strategic and tactical growth plans
• Evidence of leadership and management skills
• Experience of persuasion and ability to challenge and communicate at all levels
• Substantial customer orientation skills with the ability to establish and maintain strong partnerships with customers by gaining their trust and respect and to translate commercial requirements into a practical application within finance practices
• Communication, presentation, and IT skills
